“Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine…” I know I know we didn't actually go the Casablanca, we did however spend a much needed winter hollibob in the wonderful city of Marrakech! As my very good friend from the Philippines Mr Camilo Millendez- owner and presenter of KITV Philippines would say "It's ever so clean" bit like Dubai eh Camilo!!!!

Flying in over the Atlas Mountains!

Where are you sleeping?

We stayed at the Diwane Hotel which was super smart! very very North African, I mean look at the size of my bed!!!! Wait till you see the marble bathroom and balcony!

The lobby!

The Khazi

The balcony!

It was Dad's birthday and Mum and I always try to do a bit of something nice for the old man, because as Dad would say "what do you buy someone who has everything and more and needs nothing".

So for his birthday I bought Dad some super yummy Tigine!

We delved deep into the world famous Souks the ancient market place, we got ever so lost!

We then met a man who produced Argan oil! After a lengthy presentation he asked us if we wanted to buy some to take home. Didn't have the heart to tell him I can get it from Home Bargains for a quid!!! Next.....the rug and carpet man. Again after a lovely presentation and Moroccan mint tea we were asked did we want to buy a carpet? Only if it's magic and can fly it's self back to the UK as we were on Dan Dare airlines with cabin only luggage!

Look a magic carpet!!!!

OOOO the spices! Spice stalls everywhere!

We spent quite a lot of time roaming around the grounds of the Koutoubia Mosque which is the largest in the city and was finished in 1199.

Mum and Dad even had henna tattoos done! Dad's said Happy Birthday in arabic and Mum's had her hand painted!

Then later in the Day we met these lovely lovely chaps!!!!

Such a super place....lovely warm weather even in December but it does get a tad chilly in the evenings. Finding a refreshing beverage proved a little tricky! However most hotels cater for the discerning traveller's needs!!!

And when it gets chilly there are plenty of wooly hats to choose from.

On the last day Mum and Dad went for a Moroccan Massage! After an hour of bathing, oiling and in Dad's words "a battering" the folks came back chilled out and smelling very very pretty! This picture is a little dark but hey you get the idea!!!

The best thing about Marrakech is accessibility! Just like being in the North East of England, Marrakech is just off the A19!!!!

That's it for now......I'm off for some Moroccan Mint Tea!!

Tatty bye ED xxxxxx
