Wish You Were here...Palawan! Because it's better than Sunderland, it just is Judith....fact!!!!

Judith, we used to live in Asia, I miss Asia, I miss Asia a lot especially the weather! Recently I was reminded of this sat on a camp site just outside of Sunderland in a torrential rain storm waiting for Mum to finish her work. I mean come on the cocktail of rain, fog and Sunderland?? Judith.. I rest my case!

Our journey to the Island of Palawan really was our final blow out before returning to live in England...or Scotland depending on your viewpoint. The folks had received a refund of property taxes, a tidy sum, and so for the final time we grabbed our backpacking bags and headed once again to Ninoy Aquino International Airport. I should mention at this point that the folks only booked single tickets, the reason for this? Let's get the boat back! Cool!!!!

So, following the usual Airport check in (Please see my blog from September 2015, Flying, A small Monkeys guide!!) we were launched in the general direction of Puerto Princesa.

Well, we definitely saved the best till last. I mean we spent the last 3 to 4 months of our time in the Philippines on the road travelling. I've swum in warm and crystal waters, I have sand between my monkey toes and felt the warm wind through my monkey fur but at the risk of sounding all Judith Chalmers this tropical paradise of Palawan was simply heavenly..oh and the beer's cheap! Sorry Judith!

One of the main reasons for our epic journey to the 'land that time forgot' was to visit the Underground river at Sabang. That's Sabang, Palawan NOT Sabang Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. Judith, you wouldn't like it there, bad reviews!!!

Now Judith. The plan was to fly to Puerto Princesa, take the mini bus from there to Sabang to visit the Underground river, then take another mini bus to El Nido which in my Dad's humble opinion is THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD EVER and in the event of a Zombie apocalypse or Donald Trump state visit Dad will be dragging us straight back there.......[and breathe]...then take the boat from El Nido to Coron island. From Coron we could then take another boat to Culliuon Island. THEN.....we could grab the boat back to Manila Bay.

It didn't quite pan out that way!!!
